Shrimp Market Report US
- January 2010
The Department of Commerce published the final results of the third administrative review of the antidumping duties on shrimp. While this report was positive for shrimp exporters from India, Ecuador, Viet Nam and China, Thailand was given higher duties. Shrimp importers in the US are now expecting results of the review process of the International Trade Commission, which will begin in January and that could possibly revoke antidumping duties, according to a meeting of the National Fisheries Institute. Hake Market Report - January 2010
Lower landings of hake in Argentina
Argentinean landings of hake in the first half of 2009 totalled 186 467 tonnes, which represents an 11% fall compared with the same period in 2008. The lower level of landings is a trend observed in all species, hubbsi (-2%), hoki (-29%) and southern hake (-32%), with hubbsi being the main captured species with a 72,5% share in total landings. Taking into consideration landings in the first nine months of 2009, the reduction is lower (-7%), but the fall in hubbsi landings is more significant (-4%). Full

Fish Meal Market Report
- January 2010
Total fishmeal production in the first quarter of 2009 was 433 000 tonnes, some 25% less than last year. Peruvian production in the first quarter of the year was extremely low. However, the indications are quite favourable for the second quarter of the year, as Peruvian production improved with the introduction of the new fishing quota system. Overall, fishmeal production in 2009 is likely to be in line with 2008 production or only slightly lower.

Tuna Market Report - January 2010
Strong exports of canned tuna from the Philippines
Filipino canned and preserved tuna is continuing to make inroads in European markets, with half-year customs figures confirming the trend evident from last year. There was a 45% increase in exports from the Philippines in 2009 with a major increase in sales to Germany - up 36%.
