Bodianus rufus - Spanish hogfish
| The spanish hogfish has a purple back with a yellow face, belly, and tail. It is capable of growing to 2 feet, but typically only grows to between 8 and 14 inches in length. Spanish hogfish use their elongated snouts to dig around in search for prey items. They are usually found swimming around coral reefs at depths between 10 and 100 feet.

| Western Atlantic: Bermuda, southern Florida (USA) and throughout the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea to southern Brazil.

| Habitat |
| Inhabits rocky or coral reefs. Depth range 1 - 70 m, usually 3 - 70 m.
|
| Diet |
| Feeds on brittle stars, crustaceans, mollusks, and sea urchins. Juveniles actively pick parasites from larger fishes.
