Canthigaster rostrata - Caribbean sharpnose-puffer
| The Caribbean sharpnose puffer has a dark green-brown upper body and a white to gold underside that has bluish dots. Its mouth and tail fin base have bright blue lines and its goldish tail has dark edges. Sharpnose puffers grow to about 4 inches and usually feed on invertebrates and tips of seagrasses. They are found on coral reefs and in seagrass beds at depths between 5 and 100 feet.

| Distribution, Stock Structure and Migration |
| Western Central Atlantic: South Carolina, USA and Bermuda to Tobago and the Lesser Antilles. All Canthigaster specimens so far recorded from Madeira belong to Canthigaster capistrata.

| Inhabits reefs and marginal habitats such as seagrass beds.

| Diet |
| Diet consists of seagrass, sponges, crabs and other crustaceans, mollusks, polychaete worms, sea urchins, starfishes, hydroids and algae.
