Pomacanthus paru - French Angelfish
| The french angelfish has a black disc-shaped body with yellow rims on its scales and a yellow ring around its eye. All of its fins are also black, except for a yellowish spot on the base of the pectoral fins. Adults can grow to 14 inches and are often found in pairs. Juveniles are black with yellow bars. French angelfish are found on coral reefs, generally between 15 and 80 feet deep.

| Distribution, Stock Structure and Migration |
| Western Atlantic: Florida, USA and Bahamas to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. Eastern Atlantic: off Ascension Island and St. Paul's Rocks.

| Habitat |
| Common in shallow reefs. Usually in pairs, often near sea fans. Depth range 3 - 100 m.

| Diet |
| Feed on sponges, algae, bryozoans, zoantharians, gorgonians and tunicates.

| Spawning pairs are strongly territorial, with usually both members vigorously defending their areas against neighboring pairs. |
